Chop Suey And Bread Pudding

Sort of an odd pairing, isn’t it?

We looked at chop suey history in the post for Mama Murphy’s chop suey from East Moline, Illinois.

From a box sold in Christine, North Dakota.

Sun. [Something?] Chop Suey (good)

3 lb. meat
1 stalk celery
1 c. corn (whole kernel)
1 lb. noodles
large can tomatoes
garlic
large onion

Brown meat (stir constantly). Cook noodles. Brown onion, celery; mix all and bake 1-1/2 hour, 325-350 deg. oven.

Use tomato paste for extra flavor. Fresh mushrooms.

Bread pudding (over).

Bread Pudding

3 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 tsp. nutmeg
vanilla
1/6 c. melted butter
salt
1 qt. milk, scalded
2 c. broken-up bread
raisins, if desired

Bake 325 deg. 1 hour in pan of H20.
