Bread Pudding

With vanilla and raisins.

Bread Pudding

3 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup bread cubes
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 Tbsp. butter
2 cups thick sour milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup raisins

Combine sugar, salt, baking soda and nutmeg. Add egg, butter, milk, and flavoring. Mix thoroughly. Add bread and raisins. Stir until well blended.

Pour into a well-oiled baking dish, set in pan of warm water, bake until inserted knife comes out clean. Serve with cream or with soft dressing made of cornstarch, water, and sugar.
