Chocolate Fudge Cake

An extra good recipe for an extra good cake!

Chocolate Fudge Cake
(1 egg)

2 cups sifted Swans Down Cake Flour
2 teaspoons Calumet Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or other shortening
1 cup sugar
2 squares Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup milk

Directions–Sift dry ingredients together 3 times. Cream butter, add sugar gradually, and cream well. Add chocolate, egg, and vanilla; blend. Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating well. Bake in greased pan, 8x8x2 inches, in moderate oven (325 deg. F.) 1 hour.
