Caramel Cake

With brown sugar icing.

From a box sold in Christine, North Dakota.

Caramel Cake

Cream:
1-1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening

3 eggs, unbeaten
vanilla
salt
2-1/2 c. cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Icing

Cream real good:
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening

Boil 1/2 c milk and 1 Tbsp. flour first mixed good until creamy; cool and combine with brown sugar mixture.
