Bristol Mallow Mold

From the Kraft kitchens.

When Kraft introduced its miniature marshmallows in the mid-1950s, it ran advertisements with various “mallow mold” recipes, like raspberry and lime. Here’s another example, from the July 28, 1955 edition of the Long Beach Independent:

Bristol Mallow Mold

2 (3 oz.) packages orange flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 (10 oz.) bottle ginger ale
1-1/2 cups orange sections
1/2 cup green grapes, halved
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup chopped pecans

Dissolve orange gelatin in boiling water; add ginger ale. Chill until slightly thickened. Fold in fruit.

Pour into 9″ tube pan. Chill until firm. Unmold; combine marshmallows and sour cream. Spoon on top of mold. Sprinkle with nuts.
