Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
3/4 cup butter or shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup nut meats (optional)
3 cups oats
1 (7 oz.) package of chocolate chips
Cream shortening and sugars thoroughly. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift flour once before measuring. Add baking powder and salt and sift together.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in vanilla. Add nuts, oats, and chips.
Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in hot oven, 375 deg.–12 minutes.
