Made with milk and shortening.

Light as Foam Rolls
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1-3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. scalded milk
1 egg, well beaten
3-1/4 cup sifted flour
Crumble yeast in lukewarm water in small bowl. Add 1 tsp. sugar and mix well. Let stand 5 to 15 minutes.
Put shortening, salt, and 1/4 c. sugar in large bowl and add scalded milk; stir until shortening is melted; cool to lukewarm. Add egg and yeast. Mix well. Add flour, gradually beating until smooth. Cover and let rise until light, about 1-1/2 hours.
Stir down; cover and let rise again. Put dough in greased muffin tins and let rise 20 minutes.
Bake in hot oven, 425 deg., 12 to 18 minutes.
