Orange zest, nuts, and candied fruit bars.
From a box sold in Martinez, California.
Mixed Candied Fruit Cookies
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp. grated orange or orange juice if desired
Stir in 1/4 c. pineapple or orange juice
Sift together:
2-1/2 c. flour
1 t. soda
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. nutmeg
Mix in:
1 c. raisin
1 c. mixed candied fruits
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Divide dough in half. Roll out each into 7 x 12 inches. Bake 10-12 minutes.
While warm, spread with sugar icing. Cut in bars 2 x 7 inches.
I have this recipe! It’s called Frosty Fruit Bars. They are my all-time favorite cookie to make and eat at Christmas time!!! My mom got the recipe from the back of a package in December 1955.
