Penuche Icing
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk
1-3/4 to 2 c. sifted powdered sugar
Melt butter in saucepan. Add brown sugar. Boil 2 minutes over low heat, stirring.
Stir in milk. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Cool to lukewarm; gradually add sugar. Beat till thick. If too stiff, add little hot water.
I can’t believe the recipe card from my mother that I’ve had for 40 years is word for word the same as this one. Family favorite.
