Fruit Dumplings
2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
3 T. shortening
3/4 c. milk
pears, peaches, or your choice
Sift dry ingred. + work in shortening, then add milk + mix well.
Roll dough to 1/4″ thick in oblong shape (about 10″ x 15″). Sprinkle with oleo, brown sugar + sliced fruit. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Roll as for cinnamon roll + cut in slices 1 1/2″ thick. Put cut slice up in baking dish 12×9″. Cover with sauce + bake till light brown + done.
Sauce:
1 c. sugar
1 T. flour,
1/4 t. salt
1 c. hot water
Makes 12.
Yesterdish suggestion: based on the leavening and the amount of flour, try a 400 deg. oven for 35-45 minutes. Quite a bit would depend on the fruit you choose.
