Chocolate Cake

From a box sold in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Chocolate Cake

1-1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup Spry [vegetable shortening]
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 squares chocolate
2 eggs
1 cup cold water
2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Cream Spry and sugar. Add flavoring, salt. Add melted chocolate.

Add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Add flour and water alternately with each other. Add baking powder and soda. Stir well.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 deg.
