Pennsylvania Red Cabbage

Made with brown sugar and vinegar.

From a box sold in East Moline, Illinois.

Pennsylvania Red Cabbage

Heat 2 Tbsp. bacon drippings or cooking oil in skillet.

Stir in:

  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1-1/4 tsp. salt and dash pepper

Add 4 c. shredded red cabbage and two c. unpeeled cubed apples. Stir. Cover and cook.

15 minutes for crisp
30 minutes for tender

Serves 5 or 6.
