Fudge Cake

Hi friends! It’s Dori’s birthday today! So here’s a cake. Happy birthday, Dori!

For a more developed method, consider the directions from this version in the October 20, 1917 edition of the Boston Globe:

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Two squares chocolate, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup boiling water; cook in an uncovered basin on stove until thick; add to this one cup sugar, 1-1/2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sour milk, 3/4 teaspoonful soda, and after mixing all together add one egg last. This is fine and not expensive. Please try. I have a large book full of receipts taken from the Globe and wish I might help some one for the many favors I have received.

Aunt None.
