Chocolate Fudge

Something sweet for your valentine?

From the box of C.N. sold in De Soto, Kansas.

Chocolate Fudge

2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 Tbsp. butter
1 or 2 squares chocolate

[vanilla
[1/2 c. chopped nuts, if desired]

  1. Mix sugar, milk, and grated chocolate.
  2. Cook mixture, stirring frequently, until mixture forms a soft ball when tried in cold water.
  3. Remove from fire.
  4. Add butter, but do not stir.
  5. When lukewarm add vanilla and beat until it is creamy.
  6. Spread in a buttered pan.
  7. When it hardens mark into squares.
  8. If desired 1/2 c. chopped nuts may be added just before beating it.
