Ginger Cookies
1 pt. brown or granulated sugar
1 scant pt. lard
1-1/2 pt. baking molasses
1 pt. hot water
2 level teaspoons soda dissolved in hot water
2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 level teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon, or enough to suit taste
1 teaspoon salt
Flour enough to roll or pat out with hands.
Yesterdish suggestion: Bake at 350 deg.
The handwritten part of this particular recipe has a line, “1 teaspoon cinnamon, or enough to suit taste.” In the transcript of the same recipe, that line is MISSING. Please add, thanks!
