Fancy-Pants Hamburgers

Cheese-stuffed hamburger patties in tomato sauce.

Fancy-Pants Hamburgers

1 lb. chopped beef
4 slices sharp American cheese
plain salt
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 can tomato sauce

Form meat into 8 thin hamburger cakes. On 4 place cheese slices, leaving a little meat uncovered around edge. Top with remaining cakes and pinch edges together to close cheese.

Sprinkle enough salt in a heavy frying pan to completely cover bottom with a thin coating. Heat pan very hot. Placing stuffed hamburgers on salt, brown one side. Lower heat and cover them with 1 can tomato sauce. Simmer until sauce sizzles.
