An oatmeal-free iteration.

Raisin-Nut Cookies
Boil for 5 minutes and cool:
- 1 c. water
- 2 c. raisins
Cream:
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- add 3 eggs and beat well, and
- Sift together and add
- 4 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 t. nutmeg
- 1/4 t. allspice
Mix well and add 1 c. nuts. Chill dough. Drop to bake.
400 deg., plus or minus, 12 to 15 minutes.
