Raisin-Nut Cookies

An oatmeal-free iteration.

Raisin-Nut Cookies

Boil for 5 minutes and cool:

  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. raisins

Cream:

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • add 3 eggs and beat well, and
  • Sift together and add
    • 4 c. sifted flour
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1 tsp. baking soda
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/4 t. nutmeg
    • 1/4 t. allspice

Mix well and add 1 c. nuts. Chill dough. Drop to bake.

400 deg., plus or minus, 12 to 15 minutes.
