Chocolate Crinkles And Million Dollar Cookies

The latter using a sugar cookie technique.

You used to see more recipes that required this “balls, sugar, press with glass” technique, which is more or less what it sounds like. Roll the cookies into balls; moisten the bottom of a drinking glass with a bit of water and dip it in sugar; then flatten the cookie with the sugar-coated glass.

Chocolate Crinkles

1/2 c. vegetable oil
4 squares chocolate, melted
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix, chill; roll in balls and powdered sugar. 350 deg. 10-12 minutes.

6 dozen.

Million Dollar Cookies

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. flour
1 egg beaten
1/2 c. nuts, chopped fine
1 tsp. vanilla

Chill 1 hour. Balls, sugar, press with glass. 10-12 minutes. 375 deg. oven.
