Peppermints and Wintergreen Creams

From the box of A.D. from Lutz, Florida, by way of Pennsylvania in the 1940s, and originating in Ohio in the 1920s.

Peppermints and Wintergreen Creams

3 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. water
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
flavoring

Combine sugar, water, and cream of tartar and boil gently. Without stirring until a soft ball is formed. Cool until a soft ball is formed. Cool until tepid; divide mixture and add two drops of oil of peppermint to half and 2 or 3 drops of oil of wintergreen to remainder. Beat until creamy. Drop mixture on wax paper from teaspoon.
