Maple Caramels and Fudge

That is, a brown sugar fudge, sometimes called penuche fudge.

From the box of A.D. from Lutz, Florida, by way of Pennsylvania in the 1940s, and originating in Ohio in the 1920s.

Maple Caramels

1-1/2 cups sugar
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water

Prepare as for chocolate fudge.


4 c. brown sugar
butter size of walnut
1 cup water
1 cup milk

Proceed as in chocolate fudge.
