Banana Whip

The food compartment of the refrigerator is, curiously enough, the inside. Sometimes it’s called the “fresh food compartment” to distinguish it from an attached freezer, if any. A similar (but different) recipe for Banana Whip appeared in the May 23, 1911 edition of The Toledo News-Bee.

From a box sold in Canby, Oregon.

Banana Whip

3 bananas
3 T. lemon juice
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 egg whites
1 cup of heavy cream
1 c. nut meats

Mash fruit. Add lemon juice and powdered sugar. Pour in food compartment of ref.; let stand 3 minutes.

Fold in beaten egg whites, then beaten whipped cream. Add nuts; freeze without stirring.
