Oatmeal Crispies

Sometimes the same recipe shows up on multiple cards. Usually I’ll post them separately, but when the cards are basically identical, I’ll just try to include them in the post, like this one.


From a box sold in Canby, Oregon.

Oatmeal Crispies

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 well-beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
3 c. quick oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla–beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Add oatmeal and nuts. Mix well.

Shape in a roll. Chill overnight.

Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake 350 degrees, then minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. Makes 2 dozen or more.
