Well, in defense of the author of the card, soda cracker pies are unusual. Essentially, it’s a meringue with dates, nuts and soda crackers.
From a box sold in Canby, Oregon.
Unusual Dessert
12 dates chopped fine
Roll 18 white crackers
1/4 [originally 1/2, it looks like] tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. nut meats (broken)
3 egg whites
Add dates to crackers so dates are coated. Add sugar, baking powder, nuts.
Fold into egg whites. Add 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Put in greased pan.
Bake 350 deg. 25 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
10″ x 6″ x 1-1/2″ pan.

You might get better results doing it this way:
- Toss the dates in the cracker crumbs, nuts, and baking powder.
- Line the pan with parchment.
- Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks, incorporating the sugar and vanilla as you do.
- Fold the date mixture into the egg whites, pour into the pan, and bake as directed.
