Lemon Sauce

Compare with the versions from San Antonio and Louisville.

From a box sold in Columbiaville, Michigan.

Lemon Sauce (as written on the card)

3/4 c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch or 3 T. flour
1/4 t. salt
2 c. boiling water
3 T. strained lemon juice
1 t. grated lemon rind
2 T. butter

Mix sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Add the hot water and boil the mixture 10 min. stirring while it thickens. Remove from fire, add the lemon juice & rind and heat in the butter.
