A recipe for a version that uses honey instead of sugar appeared in the March 17, 1943 edition of The Milwaukee Journal.

Lemon Delight (Serves 12)
Mix together and let set to medium firm:
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1 pkg. lemon Jell-o
- juice of 1 lemon (2 T.)
Chill 1 large can of Carnation milk.
Chill bowl. (Could put milk in cooler of refrigerator an hour or two.)
Then beat milk and add mixture and whip together.
- 18 graham crackers crushed
- 2/3 of 1 stick of butter melted
- 2 T. sugar
- pinch of salt
Line pan with about 2/3 of this mixture and then put in the filling and top it with the rest of the graham cracker crumbs.
