Sunshine Citrus Cookies

Finally, something to make with that sun-shaped cookie cutter in the back of your drawer.

Sunshine Citrus Cookies

1 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. grated orange peel
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. orange juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. milk
1 1/2 cups quick or old fashioned rolled oats

Orange Lemon Glaze

1 Tbsp. orange juice
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
3/4 cup sifted confectioners sugar

Beat together butter, sugar, orange peel, lemon peel, orange juice and lemon juice until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in oats (add milk before oats).

Drop by tsp. onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool. Brush with the above mentioned glaze.
