Gooseberry Jam

Although not native to the U.S., gooseberries are grown here. They tend to be about the size of cultivated blueberries and taste something like grapes. If you happen to feel like picking them, be aware that the bushes have thorns.

Also, Certo (as I learned in the past) is a brand of pectin.

From a box sold in Canby, Oregon.

Gooseberry Jam

4 cups crushed berries
1/2 to 3/4 cups of water

Cover and simmer five minutes.

Add 5 cups sugar, then boil 5 minutes.

Add 1/2 cup Certo stirred in after taking off stove.
