Rules For Dishwashing

Rules For Dishwashing

  1. First scrape all particles of food adhering to the dishes into the garbage pail. Pile the dishes.
  2. If dishes are very soiled soak in warm water and soda.
  3. All cooking utensils in which food has been burned should be boiled in a strong solution of soda and water.
  4. Provide two dishpans half full of water as hot as the hands can bear it. Make a strong soap solution in one; keep the other for rinsing.
  5. Wash the dishes in the following order: glass, silver, china, earthenware, cutlery, pan, ironware.
  6. Do not allow the iron wheels of the Dover egg beater to come in contact with the dish water.
  7. The cutlery should be scoured each time it is washed.
  8. Change the dishwater as often as necessary. When the dishes are wiped wash and wipe the dishpans. Wash out the dish cloths and towels and hang out evenly on the rack.
  9. Do not use the dishcloth for any purpose except the one for which it was intended.
  10. The tops of the desks should be scrubbed, then rinsed and wiped.
  11. The stoves must be wiped with a soft paper, then washed.
