Hot Water Ginger Bread

Evidently A.D. loved gingerbread.

From the box of A.D. from Lutz, Florida, by way of Pennsylvania in the 1940s, and originating in Ohio in the 1920s.

Hot Water Ginger Bread

1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup melted fat
3 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1 egg

Mix and add 1 tsp. of soda in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until smooth. Pour into pans and bake 40 minutes in a moderate oven.
