Plain Cake

Yellow cake, really. You could turn this into a poke cake by pouring a lemon and sugar syrup over it when finished.

From the box of A.D. from Lutz, Florida, by way of Pennsylvania in the 1940s, and originating in Ohio in the 1920s.

Plain Cake

2 egg yolks
3 Tbsp. melted butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking power
2 cups flour

Place eggs in cup, then fill cup with sweet milk. Place in mixing bowl and beat. Add butter and dry ingredients. Beat 5 minutes. Bake in layers.

Yesterdish suggestion: Bake at 350 deg. F.
