Chili Sauce

With… apples and sugar?

From the box of D.W. from Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Chili Sauce

30 tomatoes
8 onions
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. cloves
Allspice and nutmeg
8 green peppers
1 apple
5 qt. chopped onions
2-1/2 c. diced peppers
6 cups sugar
4 cups vinegar

Peel tomatoes. Peel and dice apple. 1/4 salt. Mix together.

Put in kettle. Bring to boil; simmer three hours till thick. Pour in jar and seal.

Makes 8 pints.

Again use the crock. Also can add little cornstarch.
