Barbecued Hamburger For a Crowd

An early sloppy joe recipe. The name “Sloppy Joe” wasn’t associated with this variety of loose-meat sandwich until the late 1950s or 1960s.

Barbecued Hamburger For a Crowd (24)

2 lbs. hamburger
2 Tbsp. mustard
1 bottle catsup
1 can tomato paste
1 onion, chopped fine

Fry meat and add rest. Simmer slowly, sitring often.

Edible in 15 minutes.
Delicious in 30 minutes.
“Out of this world” in 2 hrs. or more.

Serve by spooning onto buns. Serve with big plates of celery, carrot sticks, radishes and pickles.

Easy “finger food” meal.
