Fruit-Nut Loaf

Perhaps better known as a fruitcake. C&H is a brand of sugar.
From a box sold in San Antonio, Texas.

Fruit-Nut Loaf

1 c. C&H Sugar – Brown
1 c. water
1 c. cup-up dried fruit (apples, dates, apricots or prunes)
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour

In sauce pan, mix together first six ingredients; stir over medium heat until butter melts. Set aside.

When cool, stir in soda, then beaten egg, then flour. Bake in greased 9x5x3″ loaf pan at 350 deg. about 1 hour, or until done when tested. Cool on rack.
